【Kaohsiung News】”Making It Easy For You to Park!” Starting from June 1, 2019 to November 30, 2019 the Transportation Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government is running a 6-month pilot project which opens up reserved parking spaces for loading and unloading to general vehicles on Sundays. It hopes that the public will have a better chance of to finding parking spaces on Sundays, thus reducing parking violations. The current restricted pickup truck policy is still in effect from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday.
The Transportation Bureau stated that Kaohsiung City loading and unloading parking spaces are reserved for pickup trucks from 8 am to 6 pm daily and are open to general vehicles theremainder of the time (after 6 pm). As surveys have shown that daily usage is low on Sundays, a pilot project of opening up the reserved parking spaces to general vehicles on Sundays was therefore implemented. At present, there are 722 parking spaces for loading and unloading in the City. This project is equivalent to adding a large parking space for the public.
The Transportation Bureau will continue to observe the change of the loading and unloading parking space usage during the trial period and collect feedbacks from the public. The Bureau will recognize them as the outcome of the pilot project and carry out a follow-up feasibility analysis. The Transportation Bureau also asks that the public to park their cars in designated parking spaces when traveling by cars, as not to jeopardize other people’s safety and put a dent in their wallets.
